I love a good romantasy, and if you’re here, then chances are, you do too!
If you’re looking for more romantasy books to add to your TBR this year, look no further. Here’s 7 recommendations that I highly recommend diving into.

This was probably my top read of 2025, looking back on all the books I actually read. Set in a land where the King has made it the law for males to steal magic from females, it follows Fiana’s last ditch effort to get her family back as she tries to break her father out of prison. She finds her tangled in a web of secrets with the help of a dark and mysterious love interest, which may just help her overthrow the king and restore magic back to all of the female elves.
This book has some seriously incredible worldbuilding, loveable characters, and one of the most interesting magic systems I’ve read in a while. It’s fast paced, action packed, and full of spice, so if you love those kinds of reads, add this one to your TBR.

Set in a school full of high blood vampires, a half-fae is captured and betrothed by a Draco inspired bully vampire and forced to compete to survive. The protagonist in this one is fiery, questions everything and stands up for herself, which made me love this book. The first two books are already out with a third one releasing in 2026, so you can binge this pretty much immediately!

This series caught my eye not just for it’s beautiful covers, but it’s unique angle with the female protagonist being the shadow fae-warrior with a human love interest. This book has an incredible, slow-burn romance, amazing worldbuilding and a lot of emotion and depth. (BTW, if you enjoy books with trials, this book also has that.)

We Who Will Die by Stacia Stark is a slow burn romantasy set in a Roman-inspired world ruled by merciless vampires. It’s got gladiator vibes, vengeful gods, and a seriously kick-ass protagonist. This book has been blowing up lately and with such an interesting premise and world, I’m really not surprised.

Set on a dark academia university campus, it follows a vampire hunter who is forced to find a nonexistent cure before her enemy—now a newly turned vampire—murders everyone she’s ever known and loved.
What people have said they love about this series is the softer protagonist who gradually finds her fire, the love interest for his obsessive, protective personality, the tension and spice levels, and the way the mystery of the book unravels into a plot twist no-one has been able to see coming.

I will never not recommend this series and that’s because I love it the way most people love ACOTAR. Violet, who has Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, is forced to enroll in a military college to become a dragon rider (translation: not a great environment for someone with EDS). What I love about this series is how badass the protagonist is, her relationship with the love interest, Xaden (I could write a whole separate post on him alone) and how well the world-building is in this book. Not to mention the dragons, they are such great characters and they really made me fall in love with the series when I got about halfway through the first book. Highly, highly recommend!

I think this series by Sarah J. Maas gets overshadowed by ACOTAR and personally, I am a much bigger fan of it. Set in an fantasy, urban city full of paranormal beings, Bryce Quinlan finds herself at the heart of an investigation several years following the murder of her best friend. Teaming up with Hunt Athalar, the two of them delve in to solve the mystery. This is a spicy romantasy with an incredible world and a great cast of characters.
